When I first mentioned blogs to my English students who are starting their first year at Itäkeskus High School, they looked dazed and confused. “Why, how, I don’t know anything about computers!” they complained. I tried to assure them that a media project could be fun, not just extra work, but a chance to express themselves and learn new skills for the world out there.

They mulled it over and soon it was time for the first lesson in the computer class. Believe it or not, the students all surprised me with their incredible ability to learn and adapt new ideas quickly when the time came. Social media seemed like a natural environment for them to be creative and interact, clicking away like fish in the water.

I hope this blog will bring joy and inspiration into learning English. By using the English dashboard, blogging and commenting you can discover loads of cool stuff, communicate with each other and accumulate new vocabulary. Let’s be innovative and learn from one another!
